J’ai toujours peur de perdre tout mes fichiers : emails, photos, vidéos, musiques, documents Word, Excel, … Alors je sauvegarde, sauvegarder le MacBook, facile : un disque externe et Time Machine. On branche le disque, ça sauvegarde. 
Le problème est plus compliqué pour les fichiers qui sont trop lourds pour être conservés sur le MacBook, on les met sur un disque externe. Mais si ce disque plante ? Tombe ? Prend une décharge d’un orage ? (Nan pas possible j’ai la bonne multiprise !) On peut toujours avoir 2 disques et recopier régulièrement, mais bon ça fait des contraintes en plus. Il y a aussi la solution du NAS, ce n’est pas une mauvaise solution, je l’ai envisagé mais pour avoir un espace de stockage de 1 To il faut déjà un NAS à deux disque avec mode Raid et deux disque d’1 To, ce qui revient à 500 à 600 € minimum.
Je viens sans doute de trouver la solution : Western Digital va commercialiser une version de son disque externe le My Book avec 2 disques en mode Raid 1 (Raid 0 aussi mais c’est pas ce qui nous intéresse ici) appelé My Book Mirror Edition. Deux capacités sont disponibles 1 To ou 2 To. Les disques inclus sont dotés de la technologie GreenPower qui consomme moins et qui sont plus silencieux (et il n’y a pas de ventilateur). Le seul reproche qu’on peut lui faire c’est qu’il n’y ait pas une connectique FireWire 400 et 800. Le prix ? 229 € pour la version 1 To et 399 € pour la version 2 To.
